Dominican Beats Nyack in Baseball

Nyack, NY * A poor start hurt Nyack as Dominican beat Nyack 16-4 tonight in CACC baseball action. Dominican jumped out to an early lead by scoring 3 runs in the top of the first and second innings. Mike Zani led the way with a single in the first and a double in the second. He also scored in both innings. The Chargers led 9-1 going into the bottom of the fifth inning. Tim Dodgen singled in Herbert Griffin for the only run of the inning. In the bottom of the seventh Rob Garvey led off with a single and Billy Gleason followed him with a home run to deep left field to close the gap to 9-4. That was as close as Nyack would get as Dominican put the game out of reach in the top of the ninth with a seven run inning.

Matt Delaney got the win for Dominican going 6 innings and giving up 2 earned runs on 7 hits. He also struck out 4. Zani led the Chargers offense going 5 for 7 out of the leadoff spot. He had 4 singles, a double, 4 runs scored, and 2 RBI's. Eleizer Nunez went 3 for 5 with 3 singles, 2 walks, 2 runs scored, and 4 RBI's. Jon King took the loss for Nyack. Billy Gleason went 2 for 4 with a single, a homerun, and 2 RBI's to lead Nyack.
