Franklin Pierce First in NCBWA Northeast Region Rankings

RINDGE, N.H. - ? Franklin Pierce is ranked first in this week?s National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Northeast Regional poll.

Franklin Pierce (16-8), winners of 10 of 12, claimed three of the five first place votes and totaled 47 points to retain the top spot in the region for the second-straight week and third time over the last four.

Southern Connecticut State (16-8) took the other two first place votes and is second with 45 points, while UMass Lowell is third and Pace University and Bryant University round out the top five. The complete top

ten is listed below.

The NCBWA?s Northeast Regional committee for 2005 is Doug Monson, Sports Information Director at Franklin Pierce (coordinator), Ken Johnson, SID at Bridgeport, Mark Mentone, SID at New Jersey Institute of Technology as well as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, Chuck Sadowski, SID at

New Haven and Kurt Svoboda, SID at Saint Anselm.

The NCBWA Division II Northeast Regional poll is in no way affiliated with the NCAA Division II Tournament selection committee rankings.
