Bloomfield's Mariot invited to play in Cape Cod Baseball League

Bloomfield College junior infielder Lino Mariot (Perth Amboy, NJ) has been invited to play for the Cotuit Kettleers in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League this summer.

Mariot was tapped to fill a spot on the Kettleers' roster as a temporary player.

According to Bloomfield's head baseball coach, Matt Belford, Mariot was selected for his hitting and speed as well as his experience playing in the Coastal Plains League last summer.

Mariot repeated as Bloomfield's batting title champion this season. He averaged .427 and started all of Bloomfield's 44 games. In addition to his hitting average, Mariot led Bloomfield in slugging percentage (.610), stolen bases (36), runs scored (47), hits, (70), doubles (14), home runs (4) and total bases (100).

In the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, Mariot led the league in runs scored, stolen bases and total bases and was tied for first in doubles. He tied for fourth in home runs, was ranked third in on base percentage (.495) and was second in slugging percentage.

Mariot was named to the first team, all-CACC this year and was named to the CACC weekly baseball honor roll.
