- The Holy Family University Student-Athlete Advisory
Committee (SAAC) held its inaugural Make-A-Wish night this past
Tuesday night in conjunction with the men's and women's basketball
doubleheader against West Chester University.
SAAC raised over $1,300 from ticket sales, 50/50 raffle and t-shirt
sales in which all will proceeds will be donated to the Make-A-Wish
Foundation.
In addition, Rebecca Charen and her mother, Theresa, both spoke
during halftime of the women's basketball game and shared their
story on how Make-A-Wish had impacted their lives.
“We were very successful in raising money,” said
Associate Director of Athletics and SAAC Advisor Robin
Arnold. “It was equally important hearing from Rebecca
and her mom [Theresa] at halftime. It was very inspirational
as well as educational.”
SAAC had an informational booth set up in the lower lobby of the
Campus Center where they sold t-shirts and solicited donations for
Make-A-Wish. Also, SAAC provided fans with literature and
information on the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Free Make-A-Wish
wristbands were also available to ticket holders and anyone who
made a donation.
“It's wonderful to give back to the community,” said
Arnold. “SAAC has been raising money for Make-A-Wish
for a number of years. This was our first Make-A-Wish night
and we look to continue to do this in the future.”
