RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College seniors Ethan Kennedy (Albuquerque, NM/Highland) and Janelle Biamonte (Secaucus, NJ/Marist) have been named the 2009-10 Felician Male and Female Senior Student-Athletes of the Year. The duo was honored at the athletics department’s senior banquet on Tuesday night at The Fiesta in Wood-Ridge.

The Felician Senior Student-Athletes of the Year are the male and female graduating athletes who, as selected by department administrators, best represent the mission statement of Golden Falcon athletics. Academic performance, athletic contribution, citizenship, and leadership both inside and outside of athletics are among the selection criteria.
Kennedy, a center for the men’s basketball team, averaged 10.9 points per game in his two seasons as a Golden Falcon after transferring from Division-I Coppin State University. In 2009-10, he was an Academic All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference honoree and a First-Team CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District selection. Kennedy carries a 3.91 grade-point average as an art major with a concentration in graphic design. A newlywed, he has signed a contract to play professional basketball in Australia. He is a 2006 graduate of Highland High of Albuquerque.

Biamonte, a forward for the women’s basketball team, played three years at Felician after transferring from Montclair State University. She is the Golden Falcons’ career record holder in three-point field goals and their fourth all-time leading scorer. In March, she was voted the first CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America in school history in any sport. She was named second-team All-CACC as well as to her second Academic All-CACC team in 2010. In August 2009 she went on a Franciscan mission to Nicaragua and has participated in multiple team community service products. A 2006 graduate of Marist High of Bayonne, Biamonte maintains a 3.99 GPA as a double major in elementary education and English.
