TIMBROOK, CONSTANTINO AND GIANNETTI HONORED AT ECAC LUNCHEON
NEW HAVEN, CT (October 7, 2009) - Caldwell College softball player Kyrie Timbrook, Bloomfield College softball coach Rocco Constantino and Dominican College baseball coach Rick Giannetti each received awards at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Honors Luncheon on Tuesday, Oct. 6 in Hyannis, MA. The Master of Ceremony for the luncheon was CACC Commissioner and ECAC President Dan Mara.
Timbrook was recently honored as the Division II female recepient of the ECAC Robbins Scholar-Athlete Award. The award honors outstanding academic and athletic achievements of student-athletes representing ECAC schools in Division I, II and III. sed on extraordinary achievement in academics, athletics and community service. Timbrook earned All-CACC first team honors in 2008 and 2009 and has also notched a spot on the CACC All-Academic team for the past two seasons.
Constantino was named the ECAC Division II Softball Coach of the Year in 2009 on the heels of BC softball's best season since becoming an NCAA Division II member. Constantino was also named the 2009 CACC Coach of the Year.
In 2009, the Deacons finished 33-15 overall and 17-7 in conference play. Both records were high marks for Bloomfield softball in the Division II-era. The Deacons finished third in the CACC regular season and won three contests in the CACC Tournament. Bloomfield's 2009 record marked a 13-game improvement from 2008.
Giannetti was named the 2009 ECAC Division II Baseball Coach of the Year. Giannetti, who is entering his 21st season at the helm, guided the team to a 38-14 overall record and a 22-5 CACC record. He has led Dominican to 12 CACC championships, 10 regional tournament appearances, one ECAC Championship and two NAIA World Series Appearances. His teams have qualified for post season play twenty times. He also earned his ninth CACC Coach of the Year honor in 2009. Giannetti was unable to attend the ceremony and his award was accepted by Dominican Director of Athletics and new ECAC Board of Directors member Joe Clinton.
