RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Basketball student-athlete Janelle Biamonte of Secaucus has been named Felician College's recipient of the 2010 New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NJAIAW) Woman of the Year Award.

Biamonte and her fellow institutional and high school honorees were the guests of honor at the annual NJAIAW Woman of the Year luncheon on Sunday, run in celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Biamonte was also selected to represent the award winners as a speaker during the awards program. Following this year's luncheon, held at Seton Hall University, each winner was recognized at halftime of the Pirates' women's basketball game against St. John's University.

Biamonte is a two-time member of the CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team, and owns a 3.99 cumulative grade-point average with a double major in elementary education and English. She was a 2009 Academic All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference honoree, and was the CACC's Student-Athlete of the Month in December 2009. Last August, she was among four Felician teacher education majors to embark on a 10-day community service tour of Nicaragua.

On the basketball court, Biamonte is a three-year starter at shooting guard/small forward for the Golden Falcons. She is the program's all-time leader in three-point field goals, and recently became the fifth female in school history to score 1,000 career points. A 2006 graduate of Marist High, she is averaging 14.0 points per game for her career.
