NEW CASTLE, DE -- Wilmington University is pleased to announce that Jamie Gallagher (Ridley HS/Morton, PA) and Taurean Temple (Hodgson Vo-Tech/Newark, DE) have been named Wildcat Athletes of the Month for their performances during the month of January.

Jamie Gallagher, a junior guard on the women's basketball team, had the hot hand for the month of January. In nine games, she shot 55 percent (33-for-60) from behind the arc, on her way to averaging almost 12 points a game. Her hot shooting helped the Wildcats to a 6-3 record during the month, including 5-3 in the CACC. Gallagher's best effort came in a 79-51 win over Georgian Court, where she notched 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting from three point range and also pulled down six rebounds. Her efforts have her ranked 3rd in Division II in three-point percentage and 15th in the nation in three pointers made (50 ? 2.94/game). She leads in the CACC in both categories and is also 10th in field goal percentage. Jamie's torrid shooting is a prime reason the Wildcats are off to their best record in recent years (7-4 in the CACC and 12-7 overall).

Taurean Temple, a senior forward/guard on the men's basketball team, is closing out his collegiate career with impressive numbers. Temple has helped the Wildcats to their best season in over five years. During the month of January, he averaged 17 points and five rebounds per game. His season averages of 15.5 points (6th in the CACC) and 6.4 rebounds (12th in the CACC), are among league leaders in both categories. Temple's best effort came in a 96-93 overtime win over Bloomfield College, where he netted 23 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. His efforts have helped the Wildcats to a conference record of 4-5 and an overall record of 8-10.
