NEW HAVEN, CT (July 21, 2008) - Nicholas Harriott of Caldwell College and Joy Aifuwa of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia have been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Scholar-Athletes of the Year in an announcement made by Commissioner Dan Mara. Both student-athletes were seniors this past fall. Harriott was a member of the Cougar men's soccer team and Aifuwa ran cross country for the Devils.

Harriott maintained a perfect 4.0 grade-point average throughout his four years at Caldwell. He was selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America third team and the All-District first team this year.  He is a three-time CACC All-Academic team honoree and made the Dean's List every semester at Caldwell. In 2006-07, Harriott was named an Arthur Ashe Scholar-Athlete by Diverse Magazine.

On the field Harriott helped the Cougars win 47 games during his career, which set a program record for most victories in a four-year period. This past season, Caldwell finished third in the CACC and advanced to the semifinals of the CACC Tournament for the fifth straight season. Harriott was named to the CACC All-Tournament team in 2006 and tallied 21 career points on six goals and nine assists.

Aifuwa was the top runner for USP in every race during her career, except for one. In addition, Aifuwa just completed the fourth year of a six-year Doctor of Pharmacy program with a 3.485 grade-point average. Aifuwa claimed numerous accolades this season for both her academic and athletic prowess. She earned Dean's List honors both semesters and was selected to the Division II All-Academic Team by the US Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). She was also named to the Philadelphia Area All-Academic team.

Aifuwa is the first CACC female cross country runner to earn All-CACC honors four times and she never finished lower than third at the conference championship meet. She finished second at the 2007 championship and recorded the fastest time ever by a USP runner at Philadelphia's Belmont Plateau course (19:27) in the process. She earned CACC Runner of the Week accolades a total of 15 times in her career. Aifuwa led the Devils to their first CACC Championship in 2005 by finishing in third place at the championship meet.
