Golf: The Goldey-Beacom College golf team has qualified for the 2005 NCAA Tournament and will begin play on May 2 at the Pine Barrens Golf Club in Jackson, NJ.

Softball: The Goldey-Beacom College softball team went 2-4 last week to fall to 17-15 overall and 7-7 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.

The Lightning began the week with a Tuesday afternoon doubleheader against Georgian Court College, losing both games by identical 1-0 scores. Game one starter Tiffany Frick (Wilmington, DE) allowed just four hits and one run in 6.1 IP while game two starter Kendra Russell (New Castle, DE) allowed five hits and one run while striking out six in seven innings of work.

Goldey-Beacom returned to action two days later and swept a road doubleheader from Bloomfield College. The Lightning rallied from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game at three in the opener before Russell launched her first career home run ? a three-run blast ? to give GBC a 6-3 win. In game two, sophomore Sarah Gehman (King of Prussia, PA) laced an RBI single to tie the game at one in the top of the fifth before Frick scored on an error in the top of the sixth to give the Lightning the win.

On Sunday afternoon, the Lightning were blanked by Caldwell College, losing game one 8-0 and game two 3-0.

The Lightning return to action this Tuesday when they host Wilmington College at the GBC Softball Complex at 3 p.m.
