Coach to speak on recruiting

Waterbury, CT-- Teikyo Post University's head baseball coach, Wayne Mazzoni will be the guest on the Sunday October, 10th edition of the Sports Edge at 8 am on SportsRadio 660 WFAN-New York.

Mazzoni will talk about recruiting and the recruiting process. He has been on the show four times.

""Wayne is one of the leading experts in the country on the recruiting process. We have had him on our show four times and it is by far one of the most interesting topics we do all year," said Rick Wolff, host of The Sports Edge.

Mazzoni is in his sixth season as head coach at Teikyo Post University. Mazzoni was most recently an assistant for three years at Fairfield University, and began his coaching career at Nova Southeastern University in Florida. Mazzoni is also assistant director of athletics for advancement for TPU and an adjunct professor in the Sport Management program.

Mazzoni, from Northport, Long Island is a 1991 graduate of Gettysburg College where he played baseball and received a BA in economics. He has a master's degree in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University (FL).

Mazzoni has done internships in the baseball operations department for both the Buffalo Bisons (AAA) and Cleveland Indians. He has worked baseball camps at Air Force Academy, University of Virginia, Princeton University, Old Dominion University, and the University of Notre Dame. Mazzoni also runs a baseball camp at TPU with Nike. During the summer Mazzoni coaches the Ridgefield American Legion baseball team.

Coach Mazzoni has published many articles on baseball and recruiting in such magazines as the NCAA News, Scholastic Coach and Athletic Director, Men's Fitness, Baseball Parents, Junior Baseball, and Baseball Digest. He is the author of "The Athletic Recruiting and Scholarship Guide", a book which helps high school athletes and their parents navigate the recruiting process. He has appeared as a recruiting expert on Fox, ABC, News 12, and WFAN Sports Radio 660, among many others. He has spoken at over 100 high schools on the topic.

Coaches Choice Publishing is soon to release both a DVD and book by Coach Mazzoni on "The Left-Handed Pick-Off Move", a topic on which he is considered an expert. He spoke on this topic in January 2004 at American Baseball Coaches Association's National Convention in San Antonio, TX. Coaches Choice will also publish his motivational book, "You vs. You" Sports Psychology for Life.
