I Chose Division II: Sarah Royse, Caldwell College
Name: Sarah Royse

Year: Senior
Major: Math/Secondary Education
Sport: Soccer
Hometown: Northvale, N.J.
Why did you choose to attend your school and play athletics at the Division II level?
I chose Division II because I thought it suited me better as a student. I am a student athlete so my time is first and foremost dedicated to my studies. I chose Caldwell because this is how the athletic department operates as well. My coach also played a huge role in my decision. I wanted a coach that would continue to teach me the game throughout my four years.
What is your favorite aspect of life at your school?
My favorite aspect of Caldwell College as an athlete is the bonds that I have formed with not only my team mates but all of the other teams, as well. As a whole, we are a tight knit, supportive community.
What are your plans after you
graduate?
Hobbies:
Soccer, reading, working out, cooking,
If you could invite three people to dinner, who would they be?
If you could be someone for a day, famous or not, who would you be?
If I could be anybody for a day I would be my niece. It would be amazing to be little again where my biggest worry is what number corresponds to what color on my color by number ice cream cone homework.
If you had free tickets to any sporting event in the world, where would you go
World Cup Finals
If you could be the President for a day, what would you do?
If I could be president for a day I would figure out a solution for the massive number of people who are unemployed and without healthcare. My family has been through these struggles, I know the pain first hand. No one should ever have to go through it and if something could be done to help, I would do it.

Describe yourself in one word:
Ambitious
Favorite Class:
My education classes are by far my favorite. I love school, I always have. I chose education because I want other people to love school as much as I do. I want to help other people accomplish what everyone else may tell them is impossible, just as my brother did, because impossible is nothing.
Favorite Sports Team:
Arsenal
Favorite Athlete:
My favorite soccer player would probably be Brandi Chastain. At one of my team events, my mom made a comment to Brandi something along the lines of “that’s my daughter!” when she and I were doing a drill together. Needless to say, I was more embarrassed than ever. Brandi smiled and looked at me and told me not to be embarrassed because it is because of her parents that she got to be where she was. She said that she’s allowed to be proud of me and one day I’d understand that. I respected her not only as a player, but as a person because of that.
Who is your Role Model?
My role model is my younger brother. Watching him conquer every obstacle that has been put in his path is what made me choose to be a teacher. He is the strongest person I know.
Most Exciting Sports Memory:
My most exciting sports memory was my freshman year here at Caldwell when we beat Philly U. for the first time. That game is what brought the team together more than ever.
