The Holy Family men's soccer team recently served as volunteer coaches for "Soccer for Autism" with an organization called Lighthouse TOPSoccer. The following is a thank you note written to Holy Family by the Director of the organization, Steve Milligan.

"On Friday, September 28, the Holy Family University Men's Soccer Team came to Lighthouse Field and worked as guest coaches for our two soccer teams.  All of the Holy Family players and coaches, Mike Bradby and Georg Montag, were on hand to participate.  The players actively participated and "buddied" up with the TOPSoccer players for two different practices.  Please keep in mind, the Holy Family players came directly from their own practice the night before a big game.  As a former college player, I know how long a day that can be and I was moved by the fact that the entire team came to help.  Not only that, everyone stayed for both sessions.  What a great testament to the players and coaching staff.

This was truly one of the best sessions we have had in five years.  The players immediately bonded with the special needs players and everyone had a great time.  I was amazed at how well the college players took control and engaged the autistic players to participate in our drills and games.   Believe me, I have two autistic sons on the team, and this is not as easy as it sounds.

By the end of the practices, everyone was playing and cheering and having a great time.  Our parents were overjoyed to see their kids having such a good time and actively participating in the activities involved in the program.

I can't thank Mike, Georg and the players enough.  They absolutely made the night memorable for our players, parents and coaches.

Anything you can do to acknowledge the team and what they did for us would be greatly appreciated.

Lighthouse TOPSoccer is five years old and has grown from five to over 60 children.   The success of this program has allowed us to add other sports programs so we can engage special needs players all year long.   We would not have been able to do any of this without volunteers like the Holy Family Men's Soccer team."
