RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician College department of athletics raised $520 in donations for the American Cancer Society during the Feb. 15 basketball doubleheader against Nyack College.

Felician joined the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s national initiative entitled “Pink Zone,” designed to raise awareness of breast cancer, the second-leading cause of death among women. The funds were raised in a myriad of ways. Department representatives sold pink ribbons and Pink Zone T-shirts, and held a bake sale, as well as sponsoring raffles during each game. The athletics department also donated the gate receipts for the night.

Felician participated in the Pink Zone for the fourth time, and beat last year’s total by $45. The Golden Falcons have more than $1,700 for the cause since 2008.

The WBCA’s “Pink Zone” initiative is a global, unified effort to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the basketball court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
